Q: Why are you interested in electronic media and journalism?
A: I’ve been interested in film since I was young. I always wanted to know how companies use green screens, what makes people disappear, and how they do what they do. I wanted to know more about editing and production altogether.
Q: What type of skills are you gaining at your internship?
A: At my internship, I learned how to communicate better with people. I also learned about teamwork, finance, and leadership.
I love that I was treated like one of them and not just a high school intern. I was busy doing different things and learning about different components of media. I helped edit a video for a local university and worked with other interns to create an internal video on how to arm and disarm an alarm inside the building.
Q: How will these skills benefit your future?
A: These skills are going to help me in the future because now I truly know the different aspects of working for a film company. Even though this is just a small portion of what I want to do, I learned so much.
Q: What advice would you give other high school students who want to complete an internship?
A: I would say go for it! It’s a great opportunity to get to know more about your career pathway, and it helps you figure out whether [you like it or not]. Once I started [my internship], I truly fell in love with the media production field.
