The Resilient Class of 2021 Joins Milton Hershey School’s Alumni Family
By Jacob Dimento ’21
Graduation day is a milestone and one that is particularly special to me and the Class of 2021 because it celebrates our character and grit after a challenging year. We knew the school year would be different, but now that our time at Milton Hershey School has come to an end, we can look back and see that this unexpected year does not define us and the strength of our class.
It wasn’t always easy and it wasn’t the way we expected our journeys at MHS to end, but on graduation day, we joined 11,000 Milt brothers and sisters—an alumni community of forward thinkers who are making the world a better place. I have full confidence that our class will fit seamlessly into this community and bring new ideas into this world.
As a class, we have lived through and contributed to positive change. We have done everything that we had to do to stay healthy in the midst of a global pandemic, we stayed focused on our goals by working hard in the classroom, and our athletes continued to hone their skills during mitigation-friendly practices. All of these things and all of our decisions, so far, have put us in the position to achieve our goals.
I am proud of our class and am confident that we will be remembered for our character, grit, resilience, desire to succeed, and spirit. These are the characteristics of a true Spartan and the tools we need as we move on to the next stop of our journey.
