Milton Hershey School Parent/Sponsor Writes an Open Letter to the School
Featuring Rosanna MacKinnon, MHS parent/sponsor to Victor Escobar ’21
Dear President Gurt and Milton Hershey School Teachers and Staff:
My name is Rosanna MacKinnon. My son Victor Escobar graduated from Milton Hershey School on June 12, 2021.
I took my time to find the right words and write a letter to let you know how thankful we are to MHS.
Since the first day we entered into the great place that MHS is, I was always amazed with the outstanding excellence and commitment. Each and every teacher and staff member has been fantastic with our children.
Every time I walked through the doors of MHS, I couldn’t help but feel gratitude for all you did for my son and still do for the kids.
MHS has changed the futures of many kids who didn’t believe they could graduate high school or attend college.
MHS is helping my son pay for his college tuition. Now, he knows that he can go out on his own without a debt holding him back. That makes him feel much more confident and have faith that he can stand on his own feet ready to conquer the world with all of the knowledge he gained at MHS.
My husband and I will miss the Family Weekends, visiting the houseparents and students, attending all of the events, and our breakfasts and lunches with all of the parents/sponsors talking about how our kids found out about MHS and how much of an amazing experience it has been.
MHS has been an incredible blessing to students and my son in particular. Now, I see him as a very mature young man who spent his four high school years becoming a proud MHS alumnus. You took good care of our kids during the pandemic and made it easy for them to stay on campus. I always knew my son was in good hands.
You have enriched the lives of our kids and made an impact. You have created an environment of love, learning, and light.
God bless you all and please keep the legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Hershey alive.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
Rosanna MacKinnon, MHS parent/sponsor
