Milton Hershey School Elementary Division Student Aims to Raise the Bar and Become a Better Person

By Eden Stover, MHS Fourth Grade Student

This year at Milton Hershey School, our school year theme is Raise the Bar. To me, raising the bar means setting new goals when an old goal gets accomplished.

This year, I am going to Raise the Bar by sticking with something until it is finished. For example, I am going to finish all my books this year no matter what. I love being ahead of the game.

I can Raise the Bar at this school by doing what is expected without being asked to do it. This means working hard and doing the right thing when nobody’s watching. One goal that I can achieve if I Raise the Bar at school is going above and beyond with school work to demonstrate one of the MHS Sacred Values, commitment to mission. I do this not just for rewards but because I am a Student Government Association leader. I am at this school to get a good education, work hard, and help others in the community.

I am at MHS to help others just like Mr. Hershey was here to help us even though he was going through some tough times. Even though you can’t see him, Mr. Hershey is here with us in our hearts forever.

I can Raise the Bar in this community by being a leader to others. I can do this by practicing the Sacred Values wherever I go. I can use great manners and be kind to others. I can be a good example to others, and this might help them become better people too.

Once again, raising the bar means to me sticking with something until I finish it. At school, I will Raise the Bar by doing what is expected without being asked. I can Raise the Bar in my community by treating others the way I want to be treated. This year, I will work hard by raising the bar and you should too.

No matter how hard it is, I believe we can all Raise the Bar together and become better people to our community, our world, and our school.
