Milton Hershey School Welcomes Students Back to Campus
Milton Hershey School welcomes students back to campus for the second half of the 2020-21 school year. To excite our students while they begin virtual learning, MHS has planned a few surprises to keep their futures in focus this winter.
In an effort to encourage MHS students, the Student Government Association invited MHS staff members to get involved and share encouragement letters with student homes and Transitional Living (TL) buildings. Staff could also send small care packages, sponsor a pizza night, and offer movie night snacks.
“This is a great opportunity for our MHS staff members and demonstrates how our community’s strength and commitment to the school’s Sacred Values, especially during extraordinary times,” said Michelle Weber, MHS Student Government Coordinator. “At MHS, we are a family, one that supports the needs of our students—it’s the most important thing we can do as staff to fulfill the vision and legacy of our founders.”
Because of our staff’s ongoing commitment to build meaningful connections with our students, every student home and TL building was sponsored and received items to inspire students during the first two weeks of school.
The Student Government Association will also host a two-week virtual Spartan spirit week. And, the school’s character and leadership program, The Compass Project, developed activities for houseparents and students that reinforce the importance of mutual respect, one of Milton Hershey School’s Sacred Values.
MHS has also provided activity ideas for student homes this winter including camping indoors, book club, and movie nights. Our friends at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts shared free virtual activities for students of all ages including virtual coaster rides, coloring pages, and puzzles.
Students and the MHS community can stay focused this January by listening to the “Our Future in Focus,” playlist on Spotify. Listen and feel inspired by the music matching this year’s annual theme.
