Unwrapping Joy at Milton Hershey School’s Camp Noel

On Thursday, Dec. 26, over speakers playing Christmas music, children’s laughter emanated throughout Camp Hebron in northern Dauphin County. There, 19 Elementary Division students attended Milton Hershey School’s annual Camp Noel getaway— a two-day trip filled with games, gifts, and fellowship.

Embracing the spirit of Christmas, Camp Noel was packed with festive fun to make children’s holiday season unforgettable. They enjoyed candy cane hunts, karaoke, stocking decorating, and gift exchanges.

Camp Noel, first introduced in 2005, provides students who stay on campus during Christmas break an opportunity to experience the joy of the holiday season.

Year-Round Experience Director Mike Campbell has helped MHS students celebrate Christmas through Camp Noel since its inception. He loves Camp Noel because of its lasting memories and relationship-building opportunities.

“Camp Noel is a vacation to the mountains,” he said. “Students socialize with their friends, teachers, and MHS alumni.”

Many of Camp Noel’s staff are alumni who show their appreciation to MHS by giving back to the younger Milts. Kylinda Webb ’21 attended Camp Noel as a student and this year marked her sixth year as a camp counselor.

“It always felt so magical waking up and having a Christmas here and now I get to provide the magic for our students,” said Webb.

Children appreciate the counselor’s commitment to spreading holiday cheer. Many found the holiday-themed games to be their favorite part, including second grader Milah Andrews who loved playing pass the present.

“At the end, me and Kylie were both holding the present so we both got to open it!” she exclaimed.

Second grader Katarina Wilson Rodriguez cherished every moment.

“I don’t know my favorite part. There are so many things I loved,” she said.

By the end of the first day, the students were exhausted from the hours packed full of competitions.

“I had the best sleep,” said second grade student Amina Ba on the morning of the second day.

Camp Noel wrapped up another season of smiles and joyful celebrations, leaving children with cherished memories and holiday warmth in their hearts.
