What is a webinar and what is Zoom?

A  webinar is an interactive info session hosted online. Zoom is the product we use to run our virtual events. It’s like Facetime or video chats, but is made for larger groups.

Who can see me?

For MHS Virtual Open Houses, you can see/hear the presenter but they cannot see/hear you.

Is it safe?

Yes. These are private events with MHS and prospective families only. Your contact information will not be shared. Zoom will not save your contact information unless you create an account.

Do I need to sign up for a Zoom account?

For purposes of watching our Virtual Open House, no.

Do I have to pay to download Zoom?

There are no costs to using Zoom as a webinar or meeting.

Can I access on my cell phone or tablet?

Yes, you can use your cell phone, tablet, or computer. On your cell phone, you will need to download the free app and create an account to use this option.

How do I sign onto Zoom?

To watch the Milton Hershey School webinar, simply touch or click on the link provided (underlined and in blue) at the start time. Then, click the box that says “Open Zoom” to connect.

Can you talk me through the process?

Yes! Call/text our Admissions Office at 717-520-2590 for help registering. Our team will be happy to walk you through the process of joining a webinar. Or, click here for more directions from Zoom.

How do I type questions into the chat?

  1. On the bottom of the Zoom screen, click the box that says “Chat.”
  2. A box will appear; type your question in the box.
  3. Press enter and your comment will appear.
  4. The presenter will answer or address your questions out loud for the group.

Becoming a houseparent means building a life in the welcoming community of Hershey, Pennsylvania. For children of houseparents, it’s a chance to have more brothers and sisters while attending a local school. Houseparents also get to build relationships with the students in their care.
